Sales of Windows Phone devices are expected to grow by 150 percent next year, a recent report from DigiTimes Research suggests.

The firm includes here all Windows Phone 7.x and Windows Phone 8 models, claiming that the shipments might reach 52.5 million units, accounting for 6.1 percent share of the market.

This will help Windows Phone get in front of RIM’s BlackBerry platform, which will drop to the fourth position on the market, with 3.7 percent share.

However, Google’s Android platform is expected to remain the leader on the smartphone OS segment, with over 70 percent market share, while Apple’s iOS platform will stay on the second position with around 20 percent share.

Other mobile operating systems will also grab a bite of the market share, yet under 1 percent, the research firm notes.
