The concept UI borrows some design elements from Windows 8

Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 operating system is slowly but surely grabbing more ground on the mobile market, courtesy of affordable devices and appealing software features, yet no one knows what the platform will have to offer in the future.

At the moment, the Redmond-based software giant is rolling out the Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update to supported devices, with a variety of enhancements packed inside, but it might not be too long before a new OS upgrade emerges.

It remains to be seen whether it will be called Windows Phone 8.x or Windows Phone 9 and what enhancements it will have to offer to its users, but the sure thing is that Microsoft is working on improvements for the platform.

Until an official announcement on the upcoming (possible) Windows Phone 9 emerges, you might want to have a look at a UI concept for the operating system, coming from designer Ghani Pradita from Yogyakarta, Indonesia, via superdevresources.

The OS that can be seen in the images attached to this post borrows some design elements from the Windows 8 desktop OS, which includes horizontal scrolling.

Windows Phone 8 users need to swipe vertically on the homescreen at the moment, and a similar move is needed for unlocking the screen, but the aforementioned concept changes that.

As MyNokiaBlog notes, the redesigned lockscreen notifications actually look clearer when compared to the current implementation, which makes it hard to distinguish between what you might have missed.

The Windows Phone 9 concept also comes with a settings panel that can be accessed through swiping from the top, in addition to offering cleaner, better-looking tiles on the homescreen.

Moreover, the designer proposes for vertical tiles to also be added to the platform, in addition to the horizontal ones. However, it remains to be seen whether Microsoft will actually make such a change in its OS.

All in all, this Windows Phone 9 concept seems pretty interesting, given that it maintains the general idea behind the platform but also adds new elements to it. For the time being, however, keep in mind that this is only the product of an enthusiast’s imagination.
