Microsoft is reportedly taking a new step towards putting together its products, through packing a series of Kinect features inside the next release of Windows Phone.

Rumor has it that the company has started working on integrating the Kinect NUI (Natural User Interface) in the mobile operating system. Windows Phone 8 might be the first platform release to include it, though this is only a development effort at the moment.

A report from VR-Zone notes that Microsoft is dedicating more and more resources to this, and that it might launch the feature either when Windows Phone 8 arrives on the market or in one of the future updates for the OS.

Given the fact that smartphones are rather small in size, it remains to be seen how Microsoft would resolve the hardware challenges that this integration involves.

For the time being, however, we’ll take this info with a grain of salt.
