Redmond-based software giant Microsoft appears set to make its new Windows Phone 8 operating system officially available on October 29th, 2012, and the company is already sending out invitations to launch events all around the world.

One of these will take place in Milan, Italy, and press representatives in the country have already been invited to it, Plaffo reports.

Windows Phone 8 is expected to reach shelves soon after the official launch, and should be available on new devices across Europe, as well as in the United States and elsewhere.

Handset vendors such as Nokia, Samsung and HTC have already unveiled their smartphones running under the new OS.

Others are also expected to make such announcements on the not too distant future, including Huawei, ZTE and more.

Microsoft did offer a series of details on the enhancements Windows Phone 8 will arrive on shelves with, yet capabilities that haven’t been unveiled for now will also be included in the platform.
