Windows Phone 8 users who are fond of texting can now enjoy a new application that allows them to do so in a more fun way, namely GIF Chat.

This is the first software for the platform to combine texting with animated GIFs, allowing users to quickly record videos, add captions to them, and then share them privately with their friends.

Furthermore, the app enables users to set the number of times that these GIFs can be viewed before they disappear forever.

“It’s the first app on Windows Phone from Pinger, makers of the #1 free texting and calling app, Textfree,” the app’s description reads.

With this application on their devices, users will be enjoying a mash-up of animated GIF videos and texting when communicating with their friends, the first of the kind in the world, the app’s description claims.

“Want to communicate something that you don’t want to post to a social network? Or forwarded to anyone else? GIF Chat allows you to swap private video messages that can only be seen by the receiver. GIF Chat videos can loop forever or disappear when you want them to,” Pinger, Inc. notes.

Users will have the option to set the number of loops for each GIF, after which the animated message disappears. However, they will also be able to set it to loop forever.

GIF Chat makes the creation and sharing of such short, looping videos an easy task. Simply fire up the application, tap to start recording, set the loop speed along with the number of loops, and you’re good to go.

Users should also keep in mind that the recipients of GIF messages will need to have the GIF Chat application on their smartphones in order to view the looping videos or send them.

GIF Chat is an ad-supported application, compatible with all Windows Phone 8 devices. It can be found on this page in the Windows Phone Store.
