It will also bring along new memory card management features

Windows Phone 8.1, the next major version of Microsoft’s mobile operating system, will arrive with a nice range of enhancements packed inside, including new storage management capabilities, it seems.

We’ve already learned specifics on some of the changes that Microsoft will include in the OS upgrade, but it seems that more of them will be there as well.

Among these, we can count a customizable camera viewfinder UI, along with the possibility to upload content from the browser (users will also be provided with various options to control uploads, it seems).

The upcoming platform release will also arrive with changes in the Language, Region, and Find my phone settings, and there is also new functionality added to Ease of access, such as the option to zoom on web pages with voice.

Additionally, info coming from WindowsPhoneLovers confirms that users will be able to move installed applications to the microSD memory card following the update.

Moreover, as NokiaPowerUser notes, users will also enjoy a new UI when the management of microSD storage is involved, as can be seen in the image attached to this article.

At the same time, a recent post on WMPoweruser notes that the content of apps installed on the SD card will be exposed. However, devs can easily prevent an application from being installed on memory cards, provided that the software includes sensitive information.

Some other changes expected in the platform include 5 slots for quick settings, along with a screen recording capability, though it appears that it will be turned off on specific apps, especially if the app displays protected content or the feature was disabled by company policy.

According to Daniel Rubino, Windows Phone 8.1 will also come with double tap to unlock / Power Off, backups with app data, Quiet Hours, an Inner Circle of contacts, support for password-protected Office documents, Office Lens support, and more.

One thing that users should keep in mind is the fact that these features have been extracted from the Windows Phone 8.1 SDK, and that there’s no guarantee that they will indeed be included in the official platform release.
