Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 is one of the latest updates Microsoft was supposed to deliver to its Lumia smartphones. However, the update has never been rolled out to the general public probably due to the fact that it only added a handful of minor features and improvements.

Still, there's one smartphone that comes with Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 right out of the box: Lumia 640. Unveiled early last month, Lumia 640 is expected to hit shelves in April.

The smartphone will be available for purchase worldwide for a cheap price. It's also worth mentioning that Microsoft has recently added the Lumia 640 Dual SIM to the list of compatible Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview devices, so once the next build comes out, those owning the handset will be able to upgrade.

Until then though, let's see what Windows Phone 8.1 Updates 2 brings into the mix and what the other Lumia smartphones are missing.

The information comes directly from Polish blog WindowsMania, which was able to uncover the changelog of this particular version of Windows Phone from a Lumia 640 leaflet.

The changelog only includes the most important improvements

As WMPowerUser points out, the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 changelog is very short and includes some tweaking rather than important new features. Here are some of the key things included in this release:

- Find the settings you're looking for easily – settings are now reorganised into groups, and you can even search them. - Switch your calendar to show week numbers in the monthly view. - Switch mobile data on and off easily – add a shortcut to the action centre. - Cortana supports new languages: French, German, Italian, and Spanish.

Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 comes with a few more improvements over the previous version of the OS, but these are among the most important. Still, since all of these new features and many more will be included in Windows 10 for Phones, Lumia users won't be missing anything.
