One of the features that Windows Phone 8.1 won’t arrive on devices with is a File Manager, yet some enthusiast developers have already come up with their own applications destined to replace it.

Windows Phone 8.1 was announced with a new version of Internet Explorer packed inside, one that would also include a file picker, but there’s no actual file manage available for users by default.

The Windows Phone Explorer currently available in the Windows Phone Store with support for devices running under Windows Phone 8.1 is one app that can replace the File Manage, though other similar apps might follows.

According to WMPoweruser, however, the new software won’t be able to offer too many features to those who will download and install it.

It does enable users to create folders on their smartphones, as well as to copy, delete or rename files, but these are the main capabilities that it was launched with.

Of course, users will also be able to browse through shared libraries on their Windows Phone handsets with this application, such as the photo and video ones.

Those of you interested in taking the application for a spin should head over to this page in the Windows Phone Store for that. It can be downloaded and installed for free.
