The app was crashing every time a user tried to create/edit appointments

Yesterday, Microsoft rolled out a new flavor of the native Calendar application for the owners of Windows Phone 8.1 devices, only to slip a bug in it, thus causing the software to crash whenever users tried to create or edit an appointment.

The issue caused a lot of distress among the owners of handsets running under Windows Phone 8.1, regardless of whether they were running Developer Preview on their smartphones or not, but it seems that the issue has been already fixed.

Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore has announced the availability of a fix for the application on Twitter, and the new release is already available for download for all Windows Phone 8.1 users out there.

“WP8.1 Calendar fix is ready and getting posted to the store. Will take a bit of time to show up everywhere. Sorry for the inconvenience,” Joe Belfiore says on Twitter.

Given the fact that the app has seen a very small change in build number, from 1.0.14127.246 to 1.0.14127.247, we suspect that the new version has been pushed out with only the fix for the aforementioned bug inside, and with no other enhancements inside.

Windows Phone 8.1, the latest flavor of Microsoft’s mobile operating system, has yet to become available in a final flavor for the owners of WP8 devices out there, though users might start seeing it landing on a few weeks, rumor has it.

You can download Calendar for Windows Phone 8.1 from Softpedia today.
