14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft is moving closer to the launch of a new major update for the owners of Windows Phone 8 devices, and signs that the upcoming platform release is already being tested have started to emerge.
Supposedly set to hit devices as Windows Phone 8.1 (which would bring it in line with the desktop OS), the new software version has emerged in the logs of an application as build 8.10.12112.0, Plaffo reports.
Apparently, this OS version will land on smartphones after the Windows Phone 8 GDR2 and GDR3 updates are released later this year, and might not be released until early 2014.
According to WMPoweruser, Windows Phone 8.1 should pack Miracast support for screen sharing, among other appealing enhancements.
Before that, however, Windows Phone 8 is expected to receive support for 1080p displays, as part of the aforementioned GDR3 update.
