Before Microsoft starts rolling out the new Windows Phone 8.1 operating system for all compatible devices, let's have a look at the platform standings in comparison with last month.

First of all, all the data is offered by Adduplex, which is doing this infographics in Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 8 every month. It's one of the most detailed statistics for Microsoft's mobile platform and hopefully, one of the most accurate as well.

Well, it appears that according to the data received by WPCentral, Windows Phone 8.1 now accounts for 7.7% of all the Windows Phone handsets now available on the market.

This includes owners of handsets that ship with Windows Phone 8.1 operating system out of the box, along with those who decided to install the Developer Preview when Microsoft launched it back in April.

The rate of Windows Phone 8.1 adoption is incredibly high if we take into consideration the fact that Microsoft hasn't even released the final version of the OS.

This should be an indication for Microsoft that the level of excitement around Windows Phone 8.1 is well above the charts. Perhaps the company will start rolling out the update in the coming days, as many Windows Phone fans are waiting to upgrade their smartphones.

Anyway, aside from the high rate of Windows Phone 8.1 adoption, Adduplex's data also shows that one of the first handsets to come with the new OS onboard, the Lumia 630, is now a new entry in top 20 having jumped 10 places since its launch.

While this isn't thrilling at all, we expect the Lumia 630 to keep climbing up the chart in the next couple of weeks and made it to top 10.

Speaking of sales, Nokia Lumia 520 remains the best-selling Windows Phone handset with 31.6% of the total number of WP-based smartphones.

It's a slight drop from 33.7% from last month, but that's not surprising at all considering Microsoft has just released the Lumia 630.

Another interesting aspect shown in Adduplex's data is the fact that low-end Nokia Lumia smartphones top the charts in nearly all countries. Nokia Lumia 520, Lumia 525 and Lumia 625 appear in top three best-selling Windows Phone devices in more than a dozen countries.

The only exceptions seems to be China where Windows Phone fans seem to prefer the Lumia 920 over the Lumia 520, but other than that the latter is clearly selling exceptionally well in most of the countries, including Italy, Netherlands, UK, Ireland, Mexico, Chile, Australia and the United States.
