Owners of Windows Phone devices are certain to love applications, data coming from Microsoft shows. As of March 2012, Windows Phone 7 users download an average of 50.9 applications, said report from the software giant unveils.

The average downloads per user are actually growing, and they might increase significantly as the next flavor of the platform, Windows Phone 8, is brought to shelves.

The 51 app downloads come in line with data released for Android for November last year, but falls far behind the 88 apps that iPhone users download on average, WMPoweruser reports.

Future Windows Phone 8 devices will also come with support for microSD memory cards to expand the available storage, which will allow users to grab more apps and store them on their card.

New, better applications are also expected to emerge in the Marketplace, fit for more powerful handsets running under the next-gen Windows Phone platform.
