Another week, another rumor regarding the availability of the already announced software update for the Windows Phone 7 operating system.

Following various rumors last week that the Redmond-based giant Microsoft would plan making the OS update available for users in starting with this week, new reports pined the availability of the said update to early March.

No specific explanation on this was provided, nor did an official confirmation on the matter emerged for the time being, but it seems that the first Windows Phone 7 update would indeed arrive about one month from now.

The said update, codenamed "NoDo", is said to be planned for release on March 8th, and is seems that various sources already confirmed this.

The update was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in early January, when Microsoft announced that it plans on making it available for users “in the coming months.”

However, some suggested that the update, which would bring copy and paste into the mix, as well as other improvements, would arrive sooner, and that it was already Released to Manufacturing (RTM) in early February.

According to the news, last minute changes that either Microsoft or phone makers have operated resulted in the delay of this software update, with more info on the matter expected to be unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Apparently, when asked about this software update, a Samsung representative confirmed that more would be unveiled in Barcelona, while also stating that early March would be the targeted release window for it, WPCentral reports.

When asked about its plans on this direction, Microsoft answered briefly: “No further information as to timing has been released beyond what we already shared at CES,” a recent article on ZDNet reads.

If the update arrives in March, it would mean that Microsoft needed half a year to make it available since launching the new OS on devices in October 2010. It remains to be seen whether Microsoft would manage to speed up the update cycle for Windows Phone 7, as it promised a while ago.
