Some appealing new applications were recently made available for download for the users of handsets running under Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system, two of which offer the possibility to easily stay in touch with friends and family over Facebook.

Of course, there are a nice range of features related to Facebook that the new Windows Phone 7 operating system offers support for, but some others are missing from the equation, and this is where the said applications can prove very useful.

For example, one of the said apps, called Check-In for Windows Phone 7, enables users to check-in to Facebook Places.

The application was already added to the Windows Phone Marketplace, available for download as version 1.0.

Some of the main features the new application was released with include:

- Display nearby Places based on your phone’s current Location coordinates (requires use of location services) - Allows you to check yourself in to a nearby Place with an optional message - Allows you to optionally tag one or more of your Facebook friends as being with you when you check in - Displays your Facebook friends’ recent check-ins

Some other features should also be included into the mix with future updates, such as adding new Places to Facebook, and more.

As for the other application, a Facebook Instant Messenger, it offers a series of functionalities too, and comes as the successor of Facebook application previously available for the Windows Mobile operating system.

At the moment, there are only a handful of features that the app can provide to its users, but the developer promises more of them with the next updates. More info on the software solution can be found in the video below.

Both mobile applications for Windows Phone 7 were made available for download via the Windows Phone Marketplace, and can be found here and here, for Check-In and Facebook Instant Messenger, respectively (via WMPoweruser).
