Windows Phone 7, the upcoming mobile operating system from Redmond-based software giant Microsoft, is nearing its official release on the market, and the first devices are beginning to receive approvals for use in the United States. Among them, we can count one device from HTC and another one from Samsung, both of which passed through FCC's hallways on their way to user's hands.

HTC's device that received FCC approval comes with model number PD26100, but little else is known on it. Among the specs that were unveiled via the FCC listing, we can count Bluetooth connectivity, complemented by Wi-Fi capabilities, and support for GSM 850 / UMTS I/II bands. There are no details available on whether this device is one of the previously leaked HTC Windows Phone 7 devices, and we should wait for the official announcement to arrive to learn more on it.

As for the second Windows Phone 7 device that received FCC approval, it is none other than the Samsung Cetus SGH-i917 which emerged last week over at the Bluetooth SIG. Among the known specs on this device, we can count a 4-inch screen, just as on the Android-based Galaxy S, though the Cetus should arrive on shelves a little rounder than the existing device. Moreover, it seems that the phone might be on its way to AT&T's airwaves in the United Sates, which already said that it would be the premier Windows Phone 7 operator in the country, at least this is what mobiletechworld notes.

Of course, there are still a lot of unknown features that we'd have to learn on these devices, in addition to other details, including their availability or pricing. However, it shouldn't be too long before these pieces of info would emerge, since the first Windows Phone 7 devices are expected to become available for purchase only two months from now. Keep an eye on this space for more info on this.
