Redmond-based software giant Microsoft is nearing the official release of its new mobile operating system, namely Windows Phone 7, and it is also prepping more developer events to kick off the building for applications for its platform.

Major mobile platforms out there already benefit from a wide range of software solutions available for download for users via application stores, and Microsoft will walk the same road too with the upcoming Windows Phone 7.

The company started delivering resources to developers interested in building apps for the new OS version ever since February, but it still has to go a long way before it can match the number of apps available for platforms like iOS or Android.

Windows Phone 7 gives you the power to build complex, robust applications using consistent hardware specs, a comprehensive development toolkit, and the all-new, full-service Marketplace for selling your apps,” a recent post on the Windows Phone Developer Blog reads.

Microsoft is putting in place two-day developer events all around the country in October, following similar events that took place in September.

“These events are packed with fast-paced learning that will help you stake your claim in this exciting new frontier,” the said blog post continues.

During the first day, developers will learn about the all-new Metro interface paradigm and will be offered the basic fundamentals of Windows Phone 7 application development.

During the second day, they will participate at a hands-on app building workshop, where they can share ideas, or join a group to create an application.

These events are set to take place in various locations around the United States, starting with October 5-6 and going all the way to October 21-22 (one event is planned for September 29-30 in Orange County, CA).

The full list of events, complemented by specific info on locations and dates, can be found on the said blog post here.

Windows Phone 7 application developers interested in participating at one of these events should head over here to register.
