Redmond-based software giant Microsoft is currently making the final preparations for the upcoming launch of its new mobile operating system, Windows Phone 7, which is expected to be launched on Monday, and which was confirmed to arrive in the United States on November 8th.

The confirmation came from Microsoft's own online Windows Phone portal, where the “Coming November 8th” phrase can be seen clearly on top of a link that should get users to a comparison page for Windows Phone 7 devices.

No handset can be seen there at the moment, but those who accessed the website and the page not too long ago were able to spot an AT&T-branded phone, the Samsung Focus.

According to the guys over at Engadget, who stumbled upon the device in question, this might be none other than the Samsung Cetus that made it into the wild a few times before.

For what it's worth, it appears that Microsoft is slowly putting all things in order for the rumored October 11th launch, and having Windows Phone 7 devices listed on the said portal is one step in this direction.

Undoubtedly, most of you are already familiar with the Windows Phone portal Microsoft put in place last year, when it launched the Windows Mobile 6.5 OS.

This is the place to go when you are looking to purchase a Windows phone, for you will be able to compare different devices, available via different carriers in the country.

Moreover, it appears that this would also be the destination for those interested in the new Windows Phone 7 platform and in the handsets that would be pushed on shelves with it on board.

For the time being, no specific info on the mobile phones that would arrive with Windows Phone 7 on board was unveiled, but we've heard of devices like HTC Mondrian, LG E900 or the aforementioned Samsung Cetus as being among the first to bring the new OS on shelves.

Head over to the Windows Phone portal on Microsoft's site to learn more on the new mobile operating system, and keep an eye on this space for more info on the matter.
