We already have a few confirmations that the Windows Phone 7.8 update rollout is about to begin, so those with older smartphones should start asking themselves what new things their devices will get.

There have been lots of leaks pointing to some of the most important changes included in this major update and Nokia also offered some details on Windows Phone 7.8 for its Lumia smartphones.

However, the folks over at WindowsPhoneItaly have just confirmed with Samsung that the Omnia W would receive Wi-Fi tethering features with the Windows Phone 7.8 update:

“The release of new updates (like updating to Windows Phone 7.8) is programmed with timing dictated directly by Microsoft. When you choose to provide this update, we will also implement the function of tethering Omnia W.”

Although no details on the exact release of the update were offered, it’s nice to know Samsung Omnia W will get a very important feature via Windows Phone 7.8. Stay tuned for more info on the subject.
