Source claims Microsoft is planning an earlier release

Windows Phone 10 is expected to be one of the hottest subjects at the Windows 10 consumer event next week, but little is known about the next mobile operating system that Microsoft is already working on right now.

Still, people close to the matter previously said that Windows Phone 10 could debut in the fall of 2015, most likely together with Windows 10, in an attempt to bring all Microsoft's operating systems closer together and thus offer a similar experience no matter the device.

And now a new report citing unofficial channels claims that Microsoft might actually hurry development of Windows Phone 10 in order to bring the new OS to the market as fast as possible.

And instead of the late fall 2015 release date, it appears that the revamped mobile platform could be here a lot sooner than expected.

Possible launch in late Q2

NokiaPowerUser writes that sources familiar with the matter have confirmed that Microsoft is trying to bring Windows Phone 10 to the market as soon as possible, explaining that this is one of the reasons behind the company's “hurry to push the builds to insiders after the January 21 event.”

What's more, the report reveals that Microsoft is planning to use the upcoming Mobile World Conference in March to present the first devices running Windows Phone 10 and “we are going in confidence about a high-end Lumia among the others.”

Previous rumors suggested that flagships would only arrive in the fall of 2015, together with Windows 10, but it appears that Microsoft is also rushing things a little bit to make new devices available as soon as possible and continue the race against iOS and Android with high-end models too.

Obviously, none of the above has been confirmed so far and it's hard to believe that Microsoft would go so far as to unveil the official release schedule for Windows 10 and Windows Phone 10 at next week's event.

But it's pretty clear that both projects are extremely important for Microsoft, so the company obviously wants to closely plan every single detail before shipping them.
