Windows OneCare, the software with which Microsoft is planning to enter the security market, will soon enter the beta testing stage.

Microsoft has already notified beta testers that the first version of Windows OneCare will soon be launched. For starters, the product will offer antivirus and firewall protection, a PC tune-up service and back-up and restoring functions being scheduled for the next version.

According to the official site, Windows OneCare doesn't offer yet antispyware functions, but these will be integrated in a future version. During the testing process, Microsoft is determined to include other functionalities as well in Windows OneCare.

The cornerstone of Windows OneCare is permanent monitoring of the PC's security. For a computer with all protections active, Windows OneCare will display the green color. When green will turn yellow, it means that certain changes will have be made in order to ensure the highest level of protection and operating; when Windows OneCare will display red, the user will know that his computer is highly vulnerable.

The beta testing of Windows OneCare will take place during summer, and it will be followed by a public beta test.
