Mobile phone users who own a device powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system might soon be able to enjoy a Barnes & Noble eReader app on their handsets, it seems. The software solution appears set to become available on the market as soon as wireless carrier T-Mobile USA puts the high-end HTC HD2 on sale, which is listed on the company's site with the Barnes & Noble eReader application available on board.

“Barnes&Noble — Over one million eBooks, magazines & newspapers. Sample any eBook free!,” is what T-Mobile notes on the HD2 page on its website, which suggests that the solution should become available for other Windows Mobile devices too when HD2 is launched. And since the handset is reportedly set to hit the shelves on March 24, this might also be the date when the Barnes & Noble eReader app is released.

Although there is no official announcement on the matter, the guys over at mobilitydigest say that the solution should be made available on that day, and that it might come with about the same features as the iPhone application, namely: - Automatic downloads of your latest Barnes & Noble eBook purchases and samples - Access to download eBooks from your Online Library anytime - Bookmarks, note taking & highlight functionality - Lookup function for dictionary, Wikipedia or Google - Portrait or landscape display modes - Customizable font, margins and page gestures

Additionally, they also say that the software solution is meant mainly for handsets that boast WVGA resolutions, and that some parts of the page will be cut off on VGA devices. However, the exact features of the application are still unknown, but it might indeed arrive with the same functionality as the iPhone version, which also includes two free classic books, namely The Last of the Mohicans and Sense and Sensibility. Until an official announcement is made, this remains in the rumor side, but stay tuned for additional details on the matter.
