It seems that the first device from mobile phone maker Philips that sports both the Philips brand and Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system on board is finally ramping up to make an appearance on the market. The handset in question is the Philips D908, and has just emerged on Microsoft China’s official website.

The new Philips D908 comes to the Chinese market as a high-end device, and is expected to make an appearance on the airwaves of wireless carrier China Telecom in the near future, though this hasn't been announced officially as of yet. One way or the other, it seems that mobile phone users in the country will soon be able to enjoy quite an appealing smartphone, considering the features it is listed with on Microsoft's website.

The specifications list of the Philips D908 shows a 3.2-inch touchscreen display that boasts a 480 x 800 pixel resolution and support for 260,000 colors, a 5-megapixel photo snapper, CDMA 800MHZ, 1X EV-DO REV.A; GSM 900/1800MHZ connectivity options, and 1GB of RAM and 2GB of ROM, something that should make the Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional operating system loaded on it to run pretty smooth.

At the same time, the new mobile phone also features support for email (POP3, IMAP4), FM Radio, Bluetooth 2.1, USB, WAP, built-in GPS receiver, support for Microsoft Office, and a memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space. The handset measures 108 x 56 x 14.5mm, comes in Titanium Gray and can offer up to 360 minutes of talk time, or up to 240 hours of standby time.

According to Microsoft's website, the handset is expected to become available as soon as this month, which means that Chinese users should soon be able to enjoy its features, even if the month, and the year, are almost gone. For the time being, however, there are no exact details on the price tag the new mobile phone might feature.
