All to be unveiled at MWC next month

With Windows Mobile 7 already settled to make an appearance on the floor at the Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona next month, it still remains to be seen what novelties the operating system will bring to the mobile landscape. Microsoft said a few times before that the upcoming iteration of their mobile client was expected to make a difference in the perception we have over Windows Mobile, and one should expect for a truly next-generation platform to be unveiled at MWC.

However, few are the details that are currently known on the user experience that Windows Mobile 7 might deliver. We know that it should be greatly enhanced, but to what extent or what this exactly means in Microsoft's perception remains a mystery. Regardless, enthusiasts can still imagine that the future in mobile industry will arrive with it, especially since rumors on the hardware specs of WinMo 7-based mobile phones hinted at something like that.

The biggest question that needs to be answered is whether the UI of Windows Mobile 7 will be radically different than what previous flavors of Microsoft's OS (including WM 6.5 or the leaked WM 6.5.3) are, or it will maintain a similar look but bring radical changes under the hood. If we were to draw a parallel with what the Redmond-based company made with its Windows 7 desktop client and what it might do with the mobile platform, then WM 7 should impress a lot, especially since some older rumors suggested that it might be based on Windows 7's core.

To allow enthusiasts dream even more on the upcoming mobile operating system, we should mention a series of small details on Windows Mobile 7 UX concepts that msftkitchen has recenlty uncovered from a LinkedIn profile, and which can be seen below. Multi-touch features can be seen there, but it seems that this is only one of the UI and UX designs that Microsoft is working on. In case all those rumors on the wide range of new services the OS will include pan out, and the UI will match the new capabilities of Windows phones, then the revival of the platform is almost ensured.

On a side note, we should also mention a Microsoft Tag video on YouTube (via WMPoweruser) that can be seen below and which also shows a little of what one can do with a Windows phone. In case some of you are not familiar with Microsoft Tag, you should check on the recent chat Softpedia had with Aaron Getz, product unit manager for Microsoft Tag. We'll keep our fingers crossed for Windows Mobile 7 to become what it is shaping up to become, but only MWC 2010 will deliver us the needed answers, so stay tuned.
