Redmond-based software giant Microsoft has recently published on its download website the Software Development Kit for Windows Mobile 6.5, the operating system that was officially released on the market in October 2009, most of you might already know. The SDKs for WM 6.5 Professional and Standard went live on January 22, but have been pulled down from Microsoft's website on / around Monday, January 25. We already reported on the release of the SDK, and now we have some new info on it being pulled down.

According to some of the latest reports around the Internet, the Windows Mobile 6.5 SDK was packed up with the Windows Mobile 6.5.3 flavor of Microsoft's operating system, one version that hasn't been yet unveiled, but which should become official at the MWC show in Barcelona next month, if rumors pan out. While this might be a strong reason to pull the SDK down, an official response from Microsoft on the matter states that the SDK was only in a beta version, and was accidentally posted online.

“On Friday, January 22nd Microsoft prematurely posted a version of an upcoming Windows Mobile 6.5 SDK to a public facing Web page. While the SDK was not announced or promoted, it was discovered and generated questions from the community. The beta SDK has since been removed, and to provide the best experience possible for Windows phone developers it will be reposted once final testing has been conducted. We apologize for any inconvenience,” Microsoft states.

According to a recent article on WMPoweruser, the emulator seemed to have an issue with the Visual Studio, so there were some issues with it that need be fixed. And Microsoft is already known for the intensive testing it does with its products, so it all makes sense in the end. Hopefully, it won't be too long before the SDK is back online, for most of us are expecting it to be tied to the launch of a new flavor of Windows Mobile.
