HTC customer service: flawless

Even if HTC launches the Android Google Phone G1 today, it still took the time to make an update available for Canadian carrier Telus. So, Telus users, this means good news for you, especially if you use the HTC S720, since the update is available only for this model.

In light of this release, it becomes pretty clear that HTC really takes good care of its customers, so hats off to it for its customer service. You really don't expect many companies to do that while in the middle of a much mediated launch, but I guess that this is a clear sign of one that shows true respect for all those that are buying its products.

Users will get lots of useful features with the update, like EVDO Rev, which allows for faster downloads and uploads, and upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, as stated above. This pack also improves overall functionality and stability for the device. Another feature that will also be added with the upgrade, perhaps not as useful as the other ones, is the shortcuts for easy access to TELUS mobile email, TELUS navigator and Pocket Express applications.

Even if Windows Mobile 7 is on the way, this can’t make the bugs and flaws in the Windows Mobile 6.1 version go away unnoticed. However, this upgrade should solve some of them – and let's face it, it's the only official one available for the moment (not counting here those more or less, but rather less than more, official upgrades you can get on back channels).

This being said, until a new update comes, or Windows Mobile 7 is launched, it would probably be a good idea for S720 users to make the best of this upgrade. You can get it from here. Let's hope it won't be that long until a new one drops – until then, this is definitely much better than nothing at all.
