By default, Windows Media Center cannot serve YouTube videos, but with a little help from a third party add-on, it can become ready to deliver not only the Google clips straight to your TV, but also videos from DailyMotion and the defunct Soapbox.
As soon as you install MacroTube on your PC, all the above-mentioned video channels will be available in Windows Media Center. And that's not all, as you are also provided with a set of video services like HDNation, Car Pool or YouTube HD (for higher quality videos).
The add-on integrates perfectly with Microsoft’s entertainment center. Simply scroll in the menu until you find MacroTube entry, and you are ready to go.
It lets you scroll through the videos, organize them by the number of views, relevance, date or rating. MacroTube also puts at your disposal a search bar if you want to look for a particular clip.
When searching, you can enable Google Search suggestions and select a number of recent searches you want to be shown for each video service (check out the settings panel for these).
MacroTube brings all this cool stuff to your TV via Windows Media Center at absolutely no cost and works like a charm. However, it still leaves you wanting something more - like the possibility to create playlists with the videos you watched. However, the application is still in an early stage of development, and probably more will come in future editions. Hopefully, such a feature will be added.
MacroTube pipes several video services in your Windows Media Center and integrates perfectly in the menu. It sports search capabilities enriched with Google Suggestions (on-screen keyboard is also available) and it also lets you sort the clips.
You can enjoy all this on a big screen TV (YouTube HD is present in the list of video services) from the comfort of a couch.
