Leading mobile music discovery provider Shazam has announced today the presence of its mobile software solution within the recently launched Windows Marketplace for Mobile. According to the company, the new application, available now for Windows phones, comes in two versions, a free one with limited functionality, as well as a full-featured one, available for a one-time fee. This is the first time two versions of the app are available at the same time, the company says, adding that Windows phone users will now have the chance to choose the way in which they want to experience the solution.

The app is already available at the iPhone App Store, BlackBerry App World, Nokia’s Ovi Store and Google’s Market, and now it has reached Windows Marketplace for Mobile as well. The feature list of the full-featured Shazam application includes: - Access to Shazam’s Tag Charts which indicate what music and which artists are hot and are being tagged by Shazam users in country - Recommendations for similar tracks based on the tagged songs and artists - Biographies of tagged artists and bands - Music and album reviews, and discographies

At the same time, the app also offers premium users unlimited tagging capabilities, the company says, adding that those who will chose the free application will only be able to discover up to five songs per month, though they will be able to share the music they discover. The full-featured Shazam application comes with a seven-day trial, after which users will be able to either purchase the solution or revert to the limited free edition. Available only in English at first, the app should see support for more languages in the near future.

“Windows Mobile is the latest platform for which we have developed our music discovery application that has been used and enjoyed by so many people around the world already,” said Andrew Fisher, CEO of Shazam. “We are delighted to have been included as part of the debut of Windows Marketplace and we are very pleased to be working together with Microsoft to deliver the Shazam service to a whole new population of users.”

The Windows Marketplace for Mobile, as many of you might already know, was officially launched on Tuesday, although it was available for access the previous day for those who would purchase an HTC Pure phone from AT&T. Now available only for devices running under Windows Mobile 6.5, the storefront will soon reach handsets sporting Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1 too, being available for a number of more than 50 million handsets running under Microsoft's operating system.
