Microsoft is offering developers resources designed to enable them to easily connect applications to Windows Live. The software development kit for Windows Live is now live on the Microsoft Download Center where it can be accessed free of charge.

According to the software giant, the purpose of the SDK is to help devs build applications that can leverage the Windows Live Services.

The SDK is a small download, just 22KB, and contains just a few files which users will find after they access the contents of the archive package.

“This download package includes the following: OAuth WRAP Handler: OAuth WRAP callback handling for ASP.NET applications to process access tokens. You need this kind of handler when you build ASP.NET solutions,” Microsoft said.

“Channel.html: HTML page required for cross-domain communication handling for client browsers that do not have Adobe Flash installed and do not support HTML 4 postMessage API.

“This file is needed if you are building applications by using Messenger Connect JavaScript Library,” the company added.

Developers will need to run one of the supported versions of Windows, as well as the latest iteration of the .NET Framework.

Of course, devs that are already build apps with Visual Studio 2010 will no longer be required to download and install .NET Framework 4.

Microsoft has recently wrapped up the introduction of Windows Live 2011 and Windows Live Essentials 2011.

The company has been testing the latest iteration of Windows Live services and rich clients throughout 2010, and is now allowing users to benefit from the evolution to Wave 4.

At the same time, the SDK makes it possible for third-party applications to also be extended into Microsoft’s Cloud.

The software giant regards Windows Live as the Cloud extension of Windows, a part of its complex three screens and a Cloud vision.
