14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft is offering an update for the application that was designed to be the replacement of the default photo viewing client in Windows Vista. As an integral part of a suite of refreshes, the Redmond company has kicked Windows Live Photo Gallery 2009 up a notch. Users can now download Windows Live Photo Gallery 2009 Build 14.0.8081.709, an update for the client that Microsoft is offering no details about, at least not for the time being.
Earlier today, a Microsoft MVP, Jonathan Kay, provided information on an update that the Redmond company is offering for components of the Wave 3, namely the 2009 releases of Windows Live Essentials, the extension of the Windows desktop into the Cloud. It was the case for Windows Live Messenger 9.0 (2009) and for Windows Live Mail and it is also the case for the photo viewing client.
Windows Live Photo Gallery 2009 14.0.8081.709 joins the 2009 iterations of the instant messaging and email clients, on the list of Windows Live Essentials Microsoft provided updates for as of August 19, 2009. The PhotoLibrary.msi installation package is up for grabs via the link at the bottom of this article.
Windows Live Photo Gallery was introduced as the evolution of the plain vanilla Windows Photo Gallery, which shipped as a default component of Windows Vista. At the start of 2009, just as Windows 7 was released to manufacturing, Microsoft stripped the platform of the digital image viewing software and offered Windows Live Photo Gallery only as a part of the Windows Live Essentials suite.
In addition to Windows Live Photo Gallery 2009 14.0.8081.709, users will also install Windows Imaging Component (for Windows XP), Windows Imaging Component Hotfix (32-bit or 64-bit), SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition (3.1), Microsoft Application Error Reporting (32-bit or 64-bit), Microsoft Visual Studio Runtime, Windows Live Communications Platform, Direct3D 9, Windows Live Sync, and Segoe UI Font (only for XP).
