Windows Phone 7, the new mobile operating system from Redmond-based software giant Microsoft, should offer a wide range of options when it comes to staying connected with friends and family, including a Windows Live Messenger, which has been already confirmed officially.

The solution should come from French developers Miyowa, who announced officially the move on Wednesday.

“Here at Miyowa, we’ve had the pleasure of being able to play around on it for the past few months, as Microsoft have enlisted Miyowa to create the Windows Live Messenger app for the new OS,” the company stated on its website.

“We’ve long been partners with Microsoft, and are their number 1 mobile Windows Live Messenger provider. In fact, it is the success of our mobile WLM app that long ago helped us grow from a company with a couple of people working away in a tiny office, to the multi-national we are today,” they continue.

In case there are some who might have not encountered the Miyowa name, they should know that the company is already a market leaders in mobile Facebook, Twitter, or Myspace.

The company is also an official partner for these social networking destinations, and says that its mobile clients should soon arrive on the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace in the near future.

For the time being, however, no specific info on when these would arrive was unveiled.

However, the mobile apps developers did confirm that Windows Phone 7 should get a Windows Live Messenger application right at launch.

“But for now, here’s a sneak preview of the Miyowa/Microsoft Windows Live Messenger client you can expect to see in the marketplace, when WP7 is released to the public, later this month,” the company notes, showcasing the screenshots that can be seen attached to this article.

Now that the official client has been announced officially, all that remains to be seen is what features it would offer to users when Windows Phone 7 handsets land on shelves on October 21st.

It would be real cool if it also allowed facebook chat as the pc version of windows live messenger does.. Then this app would be solid!

It's here and it is very buggy. Crashes a lot, doesn't update the Contacts list when you add a contact (you have to leave the app and return to it to see a new contact). Tells you you're signed out when you try to send an IM, but shows you as signed in, the list goes on and on...
