Microsoft has completed the massive upgrade process associated with the introduction of Windows Live Hotmail Wave 4. Over 350 million users owning in excess of 1.3 billion inboxes have now been upgraded to Windows Live Wave 4, Microsoft confirmed officially on August 3rd, 2010. My own Windows Live Hotmail account was upgraded to the Wave 4 iteration of the service the past week, and you need to also check your own account in order to experience the new Hotmail.

“Here at Hotmail, we’ve had quite a busy week! All of our customers are now upgraded. The majority of you got the new Hotmail just this past week, as we completed the rollout to over 350 million people in more than 220 countries around the world. Now, everyone can take advantage of a faster Hotmail experience with great new features like one-click filters, Sweep, Active Views and more,” revealed Mike Schackwitz, program manager, Windows Live Hotmail team.

The roll out of Windows Live Hotmail Wave 4 went extremely smooth. Microsoft introduced Hotmail Wave 4 in May 2010, and started upgrading users in mid-June 2010. An initial 50 million accounts were upgraded at first, with another 50 million following shortly. Now all existing and new Windows Live Hotmail users will be able to take advantage of the Wave 4 release.

“We hope you like the new Hotmail. We want to hear from you, whether you like it or whether you’re having any issues or problems (or just found things you don’t like),” Schackwitz added. “We’ve already gotten lots of feedback, and we’ve already made some changes based on the feedback we’ve received – for instance, we no longer sign you into Messenger by default. We’ll continue to go through feedback, and we’ll continue to make improvements and updates. So, keep the comments coming and thanks for using Hotmail.”
