Availability is always a key aspect of services vs. on-premise strategies, often acting as deal-breaker when it comes to the customer’s decision to embrace the Cloud or to stick with solutions running on servers in their organization. With Microsoft’s upcoming Cloud-based PC management offering scheduled to go live later this month, the company has made a move designed to make it easier for companies worldwide to embrace Windows Intune.

Fact is that a Service Level Agreement (SLA) is bound to convince more customers to opt for Windows Intune, especially those that consider service availability as carrying quite a bit of weight when it comes down to making their decision.

The Windows Intune Service Level Agreement (SLA) terms are now live on the Microsoft Download Center, where those interested can see just what the software giant is promising with its Cloud PC management suite of services.

Long story short, Microsoft intends to provide users with Monthly Uptime Percentage higher than 99.9% for Windows Intune.

However, since this offering is after all provided to customers as a service while sitting on server in the Redmond company’s databases, there is bound to be some downtime as well.

For uptime anywhere between 99% and 99.9%, Microsoft is prepared to offer customers a 25% Service Credit. Should Windows uptime drop below 99% but no lower than 95% customers will get 50% Service Credit.

And in the eventuality that Windows Intune is accessible less than 95% of the time in a month, Microsoft will provide clients with as much as 100% Service Credit.

Windows Intune will hit commercial availability on March 23rd, 2011. At that point, customers in 35 countries around the world will be able to turn to the Cloud for their PC management needs, which include single-console administration, security solutions, software and hardware inventory capabilities and Windows 7 Enterprise upgrade rights for standardization, all for around $11 per PC per month.

March 23rd will also bring with it the free 30–day trial of Windows Intune.
