No longer lost in translation

Windows Home Server is no longer lost in translation especially when it comes down to Japanese users. At the end of the past week, Microsoft announced that it had extended the language support associated with its home server as well as the development solutions built for the platform in order to better accommodate developers and consumers in Japan. In this regard, the Redmond company underlined that Japanese devs building add-ins for Windows Home Server would be able to leverage Japanese language support for the Windows Home Server Software Development Kit.

“The momentum behind Windows Home Server add-ins continues to grow! The Windows Home Server team is very pleased to announce the availability of the Japanese Software Development Kit (SDK). The SDK provides developers with guidance, for example application programming interface (API) information, on how to create programs that integrate with the Windows Home Server Console,” a member of the WHS team noted.

Starting with August 22nd, 2009, Microsoft has updated the MSDN content related to Windows Home Server. Japanese developers can start leveraging the localized version of the Windows Home Server SDK on the dedicated section of MSDN. Access to the content is of course provided completely free of charge.

At the same time, Microsoft is also offering Japanese users a chance to download, install and test drive Windows Home Server in their native language. Along with the Japanese flavor of the SDK, the Redmond company is now also allowing users to grab the Windows Home Server Japanese Evaluation release. For non-Japanese users, the software giant is allowing access, also completely for free, to the English testing version of its home sever. In fact, Windows Home Server with Power Pack 1 Evaluation has been available for download since early in 2009.
