Earlier today I told you about the first refresh collection for Windows Home Server 2011, and I also mentioned that it was accompanied by additional releases. In addition to Update Rollup 1 for Windows Home Server 2011, Microsoft also started offering customers Update Rollup 1 for Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials as well as Update Rollup 1 for Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials.

Since Windows Home Server 2011, Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials and Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials share the same Windows Server core components, UR1 is designed to introduce the same new feature as well as deliver fixes for no less than nine issues for all three operating systems.

The UR1 releases for each of the platforms enumerated above have already been made available to customers via Windows Update, the software giant informed.

In addition to the server-side components, the Redmond company also released the client-side package of Update Rollup 1 for Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials, for Windows Home Server 2011, and for Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials.

KB 2554637, published on the Microsoft Help and Support website as the actual UR1 packages went live via WU.

Microsoft is now providing all that many details about the KB 2554637 client-side package of Update Rollup 1. According to the official Knowledge Base article, the collection of refreshes introduces client-side fixes designed to complement the server-side updates.

It’s worth noting that customers running Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials, Windows Home Server 2011 or Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials will need to head over to Windows Update in order to grab either the client-side or the server side Update Rollout 1 packages.

At the time of this article Microsoft has not provided standalone downloads, nor had it hinted that such releases are planned.
