A new update has been released for the distro

Q4OS, a Linux distribution built to offer a similar desktop experience as Windows OSes, has been upgraded once again and it looks like the developers are getting real close to the mythic 1.0 release.

There are not many Linux operating systems that go out of their way in order to look like the Windows counterpart, but Q4OS is probably the most important of them all. The developers are not hiding what they are trying to do, but they have started to stray a little bit from this direction. The latest iterations of the distro are showing some upgrades in this direction.

Making your system look like Windows can be done with themes and icon packs, but it's not providing the same quality as Q4OS. It might not seem like much, but it really makes a difference if you're looking for a complete experience.

Q4OS is a Windows look-alike, but not for long

The Q4OS system has been around for some time, but the developers have started to make some real changes in the past year. Their efforts are finally showing and they are ready to advance to version 1.0, which would be a major improvement and milestone.

"Q4OS Development Pack is now able to create more comfortable password-less installers for privileged 'sudo' users. It will be used to update most of standard Q4OS application installers in the following weeks. A few another improvements and bug fixes is provided, particularly for alternative KDE4 desktop environment," wrote the devs.

It's also worth noting that there is no live option for the operating system, which means that you will have to install it in order to test it. Also, even if the number might make the OS looks like it's still in development, it's pretty stable and safe to use.

You can download Q4OS 0.5.22 right now from Softpedia and give it a spin
