Windows Embedded Standard 7 SP1 Developer Update 1.1 Available for Download

A new version of Windows Embedded Developer Update is now available for download from Microsoft.

Customers leveraging the plain vanilla release of Windows Embedded Standard 7 but also the upgraded Windows Embedded Standard 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) can head over to the Download Center and get Windows Embedded Developer Update 1.1.

Windows Embedded Developer Update 1.1 streamlines a range of tasks associated with updating the embedded and componentized version of Windows 7, such as searching for, downloading, and deploying refreshes.

“You can use Windows Embedded Developer Update to update the developer tools and distribution shares for Windows Embedded Standard 7 and Windows Embedded Standard 7 Service Pack 1,” Microsoft explained.

“Windows Embedded Developer Update can automatically notify you when updates are available. You can then use Windows Embedded Developer Update to download and install the relevant updates for developer tools and distribution shares.”

A member of the Windows Embedded team announced the imminent release of version 1.1 of Windows Embedded Developer Update earlier this month, and it appears that the software giant lived up to the promise of delivering WEDU by the end of March.

In addition to the standalone download of WEDU, customers already running version 1.0 will receive notifications informing them that a new iteration is available.

According to the Redmond company, the only way customers will be able to continue using Windows Embedded Developer Update 1.1 is by upgrading from version 1.0 to 1.1.

“If you have already downloaded the Windows Embedded Standard Service Pack 1 (SP1) released on March 9 and use WEDU 1.0 to add distribution share/search for updates, you may receive an error message because WEDU 1.0 will not recognize your Windows Embedded Standard SP1 Distribution Share. Once WEDU 1.1 is installed, you should no longer receive this message,” the Windows Embedded team representative added.
