14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has kicked up a notch Windows Embedded Compact 7 last week with the introduction of new tools and application updates.
Customers leveraging the operating system can now download Windows Embedded Compact 7 Update 3, which is available free of charge from the software giant.
In addition to the new resources offered to Windows Embedded Compact 7, the Redmond company has also worked to fix a range of issues impacting customers.
The deployment of Update 3 will resolve no less than 125 code defect bugs impacting the Windows Embedded Compact 7 platform, as well as the Platform Builder tools and the Compact Test Kit, according to Microsoft.
Available through the Microsoft Download Center, Windows Embedded Compact 7 Update 3 comes accompanied by the Release Notes which customers can turn to for additional information on the refresh, including potential issues.
Microsoft’s Olivier Bloch summarized additional enhancements offered through Windows Embedded Compact 7 Update 3, including:
“The Compact Test Kit (CTK) has two new tools: The Compact Automation Tool Solution (CATS) for automating test scenarios on Compact 7 devices and The Compact Stress Tool for automating stress tests on Compact 7 devices are included with this update,” he stated.
“Also included is new Silverlight for Windows Embedded (SWE) sample code for the Compact 7 Media Player. Previously provided only in binary format, the Media Player sample code is now included in source code and a previous dependency on the compositor in the sample code has been removed, improving performance across all hardware configurations.”
Customers using Windows Embedded Compact 7 will also be able to take advantage of a refresh of the documentation for the OS.
Coinciding with the release of Windows Embedded Compact 7 Update 3, an update to the MSDN resources for the platform was also introduced. The documentation refresh “contains 72 significant Documentation fixes, updated documentation for the new CTK features and 4 new Whitepapers,” Bloch added.
