Microsoft is introducing a new way to shut down your PC

Windows 8 no longer comes with a Start button, so beginners may have a hard time trying to shut down or restart their computer without pressing Alt + F4 on their desktop.

Microsoft has apparently listened to users’ feedback and is making a major change in Windows Blue, introducing a new way to shut down the computer straight from the lock screen.

The “slide to shut down” option can be used with a mouse or via touch support, in case you will deploy Blue on a touch-capable computer or on a tablet, and works just like its sibling on Windows Phone.

WinBeta.org writes that this option is not turned on by default, but it can be easily accessed by launching the “SlideToShutDown.exe” file located in the System32 folder in Windows Blue.

It’s not yet clear whether Microsoft plans to include this option in the final release of Blue, but it’s just another sign that the company is still trying to make the coming Windows 8 upgrade a lot more user-friendly.
