We’re getting closer to the public release of Windows Blue, or so suggests a new report claiming that an early build of the Windows 8 upgrade has been sent to partners.

A new thread on Soft-Forum.ws (registration required) indicates that Microsoft has sent an ISO file called 9319.0.x86fre.fbl_eeap.130208-1820_client_en-us_DV5.iso to partners for testing purposes, as the company had already reached the first of the two development stages for the new project.

While Microsoft is yet to say something about Blue, sources familiar with matter say it could arrive this summer, with the first public beta likely to hit the market in June.

The full version, on the other hand, is expected to be unveiled in August. Windows Blue will most likely be offered at no cost to Windows 8 users, given the fact that it’s more like a service pack for this particular version of Microsoft’s operating system.
