Windows Phone Blue may not be launched together with the Blue OS

Microsoft is reportedly working on Windows Blue, the first major makeover for Windows 8, but the company is apparently planning to bring “Blue” updates for many of its products, including the Windows Phone platform.

Even though all Blue projects were initially expected to go live at the same time, it appears that Windows Phone Blue may arrive at a later date as compared to the operating system refresh.

Citing Microsoft insiders, Mary Jo Foley of ZDNet said in a Twit.TV Windows Weekly podcast that the Windows Phone Blue team of developers can’t keep up with the other divisions and work advances at a slow pace.

The project is thus possible to be delayed until late 2013 or maybe 2014, even though the desktop operating system update is very likely to hit shelves sometime this year.
