Customers already embracing Microsoft’s Cloud platform need to be aware of a range of modifications that the company is planning to introduce with the evolution of Windows Azure platform AppFabric. The software giant underlines that the latest Community Technology Preview of Windows Azure platform AppFabric will bring to the table a variety of breaking changes. This means that early adopters already developing for Windows Azure will need to modify their projects in accordance with the new CTP of Windows Azure platform AppFabric in order to make sure that their Cloud apps and services continue to function within normal parameters.

“In this Windows Azure platform AppFabric release, there are improvements in stability, scale and performance over the previous CTP. Some of these improvements might require user code modification. Applications built on or that communicate with AppFabric Service Bus and AppFabric Access Control might be affected and need to change accordingly,” revealed a member of the Windows Azure platform AppFabric Team.

Specifically, changes will impact Service Bus, namely buffer management, including PeekLock expiration, URI in Atom feed, Allowing “/” in Delete requests, Creation Errors returned, and Status code change. Relay Bindings will also be affected, with modifications to Port change, Oneway errors returned, and Unneeded security mode eliminated. URIs and Headers changes means that devs will need to update projects that leverage Case sensitivity, ASCII in URI paths, and Token URI validation. The new CTP of Windows Azure platform AppFabric will also bring modifications to Using Access Control, including Secure channel required for tokens, and Token tag change. The Windows Azure platform AppFabric blog has additional details related to the evolution of the technology.

Microsoft unveiled Windows Server AppFabric and Windows Azure platform AppFabric at the Professional Developers Conference 2009 in Los Angeled, offering customers ready to jump into the Cloud a new technology designed to connect on-premises and cloud deployment and management.
