The Windows 9 frenzy is seriously affecting the adoption of Windows 8, an analyst recent said in a statement, as consumers prefer to wait for the net full Windows release than to make the move to Microsoft’s modern platform.

Windows XP users, for example, don’t want to move to Windows 8, but prefer to go for Windows 7 and wait to see what Windows 9 is going to bring new before making the switch to a completely fresh operating system, Shawn Allaway, CEO of Converter Technology, said according to Digital Trends.

“They’re looking for stability, not necessarily the cutting edge. Once an operating system is stable and locked down they fight hard to keep it there as long as they can.”

Windows 9 is expected to be launched in April 2015, with work very likely to start later this year, after Microsoft publicly announces the new project at the BUILD 2014 developer conference.
