Information that reached the web this week has revealed that Microsoft is planning a press event in late September to introduce the new Windows 9 Preview and thus break the news on a project that’s eagerly-awaited by all company enthusiasts.

Even though Redmond is very likely to reveal the very first details about Windows 9 on September 30, it’s not yet clear whether the Preview is going to be released for download during the same day or soon after that, as work continues on this build at a very fast pace.

But it turns out that we might actually be able to get our hands on Windows 9 Preview sooner than expected, as a leaked build could reach the web in mid-September.

This information comes from none other than WZor, a famous Russian Windows leaker who has a really good track on providing us with early builds of new versions of Windows, but of course nobody can guarantee that this is actually going to happen.

Up until now, Microsoft has done a great job preventing leaked builds from reaching the web, and sources very close to the matter indicated that the company had introduced some new security measures to make sure that no development version of Windows 9 leaked out.

According to information we have right now, every single Windows 9 build sent to manufacturers is individually signed with a unique code, so in case one ISO reaches the web, it would be really easy to track down the one who leaked it. This could also be one of the reasons why no other builds have been leaked so far, even though we know that work on Windows 9 was started a few months ago.

WZor says that in case Windows 9 does get leaked after September 15, it’s very likely to come in ISO form, so everyone should be able to install it on their systems. There are no details as to the hardware requirements of this new OS, but expect Windows 9 to run smoothly on the same system configuration as Windows 8.

As mentioned, there’s no guarantee that Windows 9 could get leaked at the promised date, but at least it gives us hope that we can get our hands on the new operating system sooner than expected.

It remains to be seen if this information is accurate or not, but at least it’s a new sign that Windows 9 Preview is on the horizon and it should be here very soon.
