Designer creates his own interpretation of multiple desktops

Microsoft will finally launch the multiple desktops options in Windows 9, and although the company has been working on this feature for years, some users aren’t really pleased with the way it’s going to look when it becomes available in early 2015.

As a result, designers across the world have created their very own interpretation of the multiple desktops option, some of which look really appealing and would actually make sense in a stable Windows iteration.

This is the case of the concept launched by fediaFedia, a designer who has already created a pretty eye-appealing interpretation of the Windows 9 operating system with modern elements and fresh looks.

As you can see for yourself by clicking on the adjacent photo, the multiple desktops feature envisioned in this photo features large thumbnails with the number of running apps displayed at the bottom of the screen for easier management.

At the same time, there’s also a preview of the running apps to make it easier for users to select the desktop they want, as well as the amount of RAM that’s currently being used by loaded processes.

Multiple desktops also coming in Windows 9 preview

Microsoft will present the very first public testing build of Windows 9 during a press conference tomorrow, while everyone else should get the download link in the first days of October.

Until now, the company hasn’t shared any specifics on Windows 9 features, but leaked screenshots that have reached the web in the past few weeks have confirmed that multiple desktops is one of the features that will be part of this release.

Requested by users since forever, the multiple desktops option will be integrated into Windows 9 preview and will be available from the very beginning, although some new features could also be added by the time the final product is ready for release.

At this point, multiple desktops can be accessed via a dedicated button on the taskbar, but Microsoft is also expected to introduce new keyboard shortcuts that would help users switch from one desktop to another faster and easier.

There’s no indication as to how many desktops users would be allowed to create, but the company is, however, expected to introduce such a limit in order to prevent system slowdowns and keep decent performance even when working on multiple desktops.

Of course, everyone will be allowed to give this feature a try in the upcoming preview, but keep in mind that both the looks and the features could change until the final product comes out.
