Even though some previous reports revealed that work on Windows 9 has already started, it turns out that Redmond is now making the final adjustments before starting the development process of what’s believed to be the next full version of its operating system.

The news came via WinSuperSite, which is reporting that Windows 9 is very likely to debut in April 2015, one year after Microsoft launches Windows 8.1 Update 1.

This way, Microsoft would fully embrace the rapid release cycle that outgoing CEO Steve Ballmer was talking about in October 2012 when the company officially unveiled the modern Windows 8.

Windows 9 is very likely to bring some major changes to users, including not only a Start Menu (which could debut as soon as this April in Windows 8.1 Update 1), but also the possibility to run Modern apps in their very own windows on the desktop.
