All eyes these days are on the upcoming Windows versions, as people familiar with the matter are hinting that Microsoft is already working on a new edition called Threshold.

A concept created by DeviantArt user Mario B imagines the built-in Windows 9 file manager, which is a redesigned version of the File Explorer that comes with slight visual enhancements.

As you can see for yourselves, this version comes with a UI redesign, new ribbon icon, improved back and forward buttons, and several rearranged elements.

As far as Windows Threshold is concerned, it’s yet unclear whether this particular version is going to be a full Windows release or just an update for Windows 8.1, but according to people familiar with the matter, it’ll bring several major changes.

For example, it might include not only a brand new Start Menu, but also options to run Metro apps on the desktop in their very own windows.
