Even though Microsoft will launch the new Windows 8.1 on Friday, designers are hard at work to create Windows 9 concept imagining the user interface of the next full Windows release.

This concept, created recently by Deviant Art user r2ds, comes with a pretty simple interface that’s not only pretty good-looking, but also good enough to be used on tablets running the upcoming operating system.

Internet Explorer would thus keep its tab-based look, while also getting touch-optimized features with large buttons that make the browser perfect for any tablet running Windows 9.

The designer explains that this is still a work in progress, so more concepts are expected to be released in the coming months.

As for Windows 9, people familiar with the matter hinted earlier this year that it could launch in November 2014, while a beta version could be released sometime in January.
