It appears that Microsoft is ready to break the news on Windows 9

Microsoft has been working on Windows 8.1 Update 2 for months and the company finally seems to be ready to provide more information on what's to come for Windows 8.1 users next month at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference 2014.

Russian group WZor, who has a good track on Windows leaks so far, revealed in a short tweet that the WPC event kicking off on July 13 would witness the first public appearance not only of Windows 8.1 Update 2, but also of Windows 9, the next full version of Microsoft's Windows operating system.

Nothing has been confirmed so far, but people familiar with the matter said that Windows 9 might launch in early 2015, so I'm not really sure that the first beta is already ready to be presented so early. Windows 8.1 Update 2, on the other hand, is more likely to be presented at the show, especially because it's expected to see daylight in August or September.

As usual, do not expect Microsoft to provide any confirmation on this, so take everything with a pinch of salt until we really hear something official from the Redmond-based company. In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed and let's just hope that Windows 9 is closer than anyone might think.
