They say that Windows 8 is one of the biggest flops in Microsoft's history and many people have even compared it with Windows Vista, often deemed as a fairly major fail for the Redmond-based tech.

While Windows 8 is clearly superior to Windows Vista when it comes to features, performance, and stability, this chart provided by StatCounter shows that Microsoft's modern OS is slowly improving its user base, as more consumers decide to migrate.

Windows Vista started the year with a 6.92 percent and dropped to 6.04 percent in May, the same month when Microsoft managed to boost its share 5.57 percent, up from 2.66 percent in January.

The switch of places happened the following month, and Windows 8 went on to boost its market share to 8 percent in November, while Windows Vista dropped to 5.16 percent.

At the same time, Windows 8 has also lost some of users after the arrival of Windows 8.1, as many people decided to go for an operating system that actually has a Start button.
