Windows 8’s Early Adoption Rate Still Below Windows 7’s

New data revealed by analyst firm Context and targeting sales recorded by distributors during the month of November indicate that Windows 8’s adoption rate is still below the one experienced by Windows 7 three years ago.

52 percent of the tablets and computers sold last month in the business sector were running Windows 8, MicroScope reports citing Context data, while Windows 7 reached a record 58 percent during a comparable timeframe.

“We know that PC sales overall declined over the last few months and it looks like Windows 8 has so far not had the boosting effect that many in the business had been hoping for,” said Jeremy Davies, Context CEO.

Microsoft hasn’t talked too much on Windows 8’s sales figures, but the company initially said that approximately 40 million copies have been sold in approximately one month. Analysts, on the other hand, suggested that Windows 8 is far from becoming a marketing success, with sources close to the matter saying that it has even missed internal sales projections.
